In the latest years, numerous researches have been devoted to the study of partially saturated soils, which, due to the effect of the suction Property, increase their resistant properties. Because of this, studies have been directed to develop new methods and formulations to analyze and design less conservative foundation structures. This research pursuit this path, to demonstrate that the effect of suction on the tense-deformational behavior of a partially saturated soil, on which rests a shalow foundation subjected to vertical and centered loading, based on the finite element method to support the traditional methods of structural design.
