Resumen
En la actualidad hay muchas formas de proyectar un pórtico variando sus condiciones de
apoyo y las uniones entre sus elementos. Entre estas variantes se pueden mencionar los
pórticos empotrados, los biarticulados, los empotrados en la base con una articulación en
la unión superior y los triarticulados. Los articulados en la base, al no presentar momento
flector en la base del pilar, necesita un volumen de cimentación mucho menor que los
empotrados en la base. Sin embargo, los desplazamientos que presentan estos son
mayores que los que puede presentar uno rígido por lo que los biarticulados y triarticulados
necesitan un mayor dimensionamiento de perfiles de estructuras metálicas. Ante esta
contradicción se realiza una comparación de forma global desde el punto de vista
económico y estructural para determinar cuál sería la opción más racional.
